B.S. Environmental Biology (2021)- Christopher Newport University


Avery is an MPH student at the Yale School of Public Health in the Environmental Health Sciences department. She is primarily interested in environmental justice and health equity, and her research examines the relationship between community demographics and proximity to drilling waste facilities in Pennsylvania. 

Outside of her primary research, she works as a Research Assistant with Fair Haven Community Health Care and the Yale Center for Business and the Environment promoting the clinic’s nature and health initiative. This involves leading weekly nature walks for kids in East Rock Park and finding fun ways to help pediatricians get their patients outside.
